There are two types of universities in Turkey: Public Universities and Private Universities

1. PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES

  • Private universities accept without an exam. A student who pays a contract to the university is officially a student of the university
  • When going to the university, he checks the language level before starting his studies – he passes a language test (test, interview, written work) depending on the language of education of his chosen field.
  • If the language level is not sufficient, first he teaches a separate language at the university, after mastering the language, he starts studying from the first year
  • The price of the language course in most private universities is on average 1000 $ for TURKISH LANGUAGE. Some are even more expensive
  • The price of the ENGLISH language course is usually the same as the price of the faculty

TIUTION FEE

  • Medicine, Stomatology starts from $10,000. Pharmaceuticals and Aviation are also considered expensive industries
  • The rest of the courses are between $1,900 and $8,000 in most universities

ABOUT CONDITIONS

  • Private universities are almost all located in large cities, so the opportunity to work outside of studies is relatively high.
  • On average, it costs $400 per month for food and accommodation

2. PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES

  • Usually, state universities accept foreign students for all majors by taking a mathematics and logic test (YÖS – Foreign Student Exam). You can find information about YOS from Google
  • A student who has passed the YOS exam will take an exam in the university if the language of instruction of the chosen course is Turkish, if Turkish is English, then in English, if he passes the language exam, he will study from the first year.
  • The price of Turkish and English language courses in state universities is almost the same and is 1000$ on average. The duration of the language course is usually 8 months.

TIUTION FEE

  • Medicine, Stomatology, Pharmacy, these are the most expensive fields. The price of the contract is from $2,000 to $6,000
  • Other courses are on average $600-$700, depending on the university

(Without YÖS) State universities – YÖS is also possible for you to enter state universities located in relatively remote regions

ABOUT CONDITIONS

  • YÖS, most of the state universities that you can enter are located in the region, so the opportunity to work outside of studies is relatively limited.
  • On average, it costs $200 per month for food and accommodation
  • Some state universities go to foreign countries to conduct exams. Then you can test your knowledge.
  • Most universities do not conduct exams in foreign countries. In this case, it is necessary to go to Turkey and take the exam. The YÖS exam season is usually between March and July
